Fishbowl Production Tables
- ALBO, Robert J. Still Further Classic Magic with Apparatus. N.p. : N.p. 1984. 423 pp. Cover | Full Title
Prior to 2005, this volume was considered the “key” to the Classic Magic Series and commanded high prices due to its small print run (unstated) estimated around 550. All this changed with the release of Vol XI, Laboratories of Legerdemain with a stated print run of only 300. If you can find volume V, however, you’ll be rewarded with an entire chapter “Liquid and Fish” which explores such apparatus as the Conradi & Martinka “Vanishing Goldfish” (p. 23), Ink to Goldfish And Water (P. 31), Stack of Fish Bowls Production (p. 42), Aquarium Fish Production (p. 45), Westgate Bowl Production (p. 52), and The Fish Bowl production (p. 80). Finally there is an intriguing (to me at least) “Multiple Goldfish Bowl Vanish” on p. 71 and in the color plates which I can’t recall ever seeing elsewhere.
Tarbell Vol. 5 (see above) describes the basic presentation behind the 1-bowl production table.
Jarrett’s ingenius-as-always improvements, as well as a funny incident with Thurston, can be found on pages 217-219 of

Finally, an intresting application of “Foreshortening and Perspective” as it relates to the Fishbowl production table can be found in
- SHARPE, S(am) H. Conjurers’ Optical Secrets. Calgary: Hades Publications. 1985,1992. Second Edition. 187 pp. Cover | Full Title
I’ve not seen this actually applied in apparatus, presumably due to the difficulty of procuring an elliptical water bowl.
